Job Description & Person Specification:

Lougher Contemporary is seeking a freelance content writer for our social media and blog platform.

The primary focus of the role would be to research and create engaging content for Lougher Contemporary’s social media platforms, with a particular focus on established contemporary artists, and significant artists of past generations, along with commentary on important exhibitions and art market news.

These would be posted online to an audience in excess of 30,000 people.

The role would be suited to candidates interested in gaining a footing in the art industry such as under- or post-graduates, or otherwise someone with a keen interest in both the art market and digital marketing and social media.

We are particularly interested in hearing from a current under-graduates or post-graduates in History of Art or Fine Art, or an English Literature student with a strong interest in contemporary art and art history. We anticipate a commitment of approximately 5-10 hours per week depending on your availability, for a minimum period of six weeks.

Whilst the role is unpaid (note, any reasonable associated expenses would be re-imbursed), Lougher Contemporary is committed to offering an internship that is of mutual benefit. We would be willing to provide a reference on completion of a minimum term of six weeks, and would also welcome regular dialogue and discussions with the successful candidate(s) on the art market and industry.

This is a remote position and as such the work can be conducted from anywhere in the UK. Candidates from Bristol or nearby would be welcome to come and meet us prior to starting the placement.

To apply please send CV and cover letter, along with a 200-word short article or bio on an artist of your choice.

We will respond to all applicants within 5 working days.
