Are you passionate about managing museum and archive collections and making them accessible?

Part of the wider Science Museum Group, the National Railway Museum is committed to researching, interpreting and communicating over 300 years of railway history through a unique collection of vehicles, objects, documents and images.

To support our Collections and Research department in ensuring our amazing archives are accessible, we are looking for an Archivist to join us on a 2-year, fixed term, contract at the National Railway Museum in York.

In this role, you will focus on caring for our specialist photographic collections, working with the wider curatorial and archival team to carefully and systematically research, audit and document our images whilst championing the provision of access to museum visitors and the wider public.

Joining us, you will be a qualified archivist or have significant professional experience in managing archives, having worked with archive or museum management systems to catalogue and promote access to collections.

You will also be organised and meticulous, having experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders and of supervising volunteers to plan archive projects and implement best practice.

You will be offered excellent benefits, including 25 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays, BUPA medical and dental healthcare, a contributory company pension scheme, an annual season ticket loan and numerous staff discounts whilst developing your career in a world class museum group.
